After many years of travelling, he finally found the perfect home. It was on a mountain. The ant
ded to build his house on the very top of the mountain, where there was a magnificent view of the
r mountains around his mountain.
The ant lived in his house happily for a while, until one day, he saw a rabbit in his garden. “Rabbit! You’re
in my garden! This is my home! Please don’t come in without invitation! ”Rabbit looked at ant and laughed.
Ant, there is no sign here which proves this is only your home. This mountain is my home too!” And so rabbit
scampered away with a carrot from ant’s garden.
Ant was not happy. He had spent a lot of days growing that carrot. He had hoped to make some carrot soup
for himself today. He was grumpy for the rest of the week, and he put a sign up that said “Ant’s home, visitors
not allowed unless upon invitation. ”
The next day, a fox came into ant’s backyard and took an apple from ant’s apple tree. When ant found out,
he was angry. “Fox! Can’t you see there's a sign that says “Ant’s home”? This is my backyard! This is my apple
tree! And that was my apple!” Fox chuckled and said, “Ant, this spot may be your home, but this mountain is
my home too. Because I live on the mountain, I can have access to your little spot on the mountain.” With that,
Fox scampered away with ant’s apple.
Ant decided that his neighbors probably thought it was okay to take his stuff from his house because they
lived on the mountain too. So the next day, ant put a sign up at the bottom of the mountain. The sign read:”
Ant’s mountain. Do not enter without permission.” Once the animals saw the sign, they moved to another
mountain nearby to live.
But ant was greedy. He wanted to have more. He put a sign up the very next day on the other mountains,
they read: “Ant’s mountain.” But most of the animals on the mountain could not read ants tiny writing, so they
continued taking things from ant.
One day ant became so angry at the animals coming to his mountains that he built a very long wall, reaching
from the start of his property to the end of his mountains. The other animals could not reach the other side of the
wall, which was ant’s property, so they could not take things from ant.
Over time, ant hired lots of other ants to guard his wall and land, so the next time you see an ant on the great
wall, don’t forget that ant’s land is close by! Stay away!
